Homemade “Corn” Syrup

Tomorrow is Dulce de Leche Apples day.  Almost every recipe you find for caramel apples calls for corn syrup.  Big D has an unexplained aversion to that product, so I made a homemade variation, sometimes referred to as a “simple syrup.”  If you think you might try tomorrow’s recipe, tonight is a good time to make this syrup and place in the fridge overnight.  It will come out gooey – double dog daring you not to pull and play with it like you’re a kid.  Go ahead . . . I won’t tell.

  • Small – Medium Pot
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1/3 cup water

Simple Syrup Recipe.  Noted in Nashville.Mix sugar and water in pot.  Mix well.

Simple Syrup Recipe.  Noted in Nashville.Bring to boil on medium high heat.  Reduce to simmer on medium low heat.  Simmer 3 – 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
