You’re Not ‘The One That Got Away’

Well, hello there!  It’s been a while.  I’ve enjoyed catching up on your blogs this week.  Thank you for making me feel missed and welcomed back.

There are many, many songs written about “the one that got away.”  But what about the one that didn’t?  And by that I mean, what about the one that didn’t, but you wish had?!  Here’s a song I wrote on that subject a few years ago.

My inner grammar cop compels me to point out the flaw in the title.  But no one says, “the one who got away” now do they?  So artistic license wins over language laws this time – like a lot of times.  In fact, anytime you find an error in my writing, just chalk it up to “artistic license.”  Oh yeah, I totally meant to do that. . .

Have a great weekend!

  1. A sweet and soulful tune Anita. It’s good to have you back in the blogosphere so Terri and I can fire up the Bluetooth speakers and hear your latest creation. We fit into the “One That Didn’t Get Away” category, and it’s wonderful hearing it set to music. Keep ‘um coming. ~James

    • Thanks, James! There’s “The One You’re Glad Didn’t Get Away” (Big D) and then there’s “The One You Wished Had!” 🙂 But no worries, as long as you find your way to the former, it’s worth the journey. . .

  2. Anita, that was awesome. I could listen to your soothing voice all day. That song was fantastic. You did such a great job with it. You’ve really got a lot of talent.

  3. Hi Anita, & welcome back!!! Now, first off, like you, we’ve been off computers for 2 months working on our book #2 for our P-7 series so we’ve been ghosts as of late. But we’re almost finished which means we can get back to regular hours & blogging visits cuz we miss our blogging buds, (like you) so much!! Now that I got that mouthful out. HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!!!!! Damn girl did not know you threw down like that!!! You have an incredible voice, Anita. I mean mom & I always knew you could sing & play & that you taught children. But your voice is pure caramel…no strike that salted caramel, yummy!! Mom luvs the bluesy quality to your tone. Which she freaked out on. Me, I love the R & B hints of flavor. So, there you have it. Two great big fans of Anita who will be splashing this video across any and every site we have so we can say: Check out this talented lady……AND YES….SHE’S OUR FRIEND!!!!!! Lol 😉 xoxoxo Bragging rights a must!!!

    • Okay, you just made my Monday!!! Now I know who needs to write my bio. 🙂 At least I need permission to use that “salted caramel” comment. Wow. I feel so honored that you like it, and I can’t thank you enough for sharing it.

Congratulations on your new book! I’m always so impressed when people actually complete one book, let alone two. It takes me years just to finish a song. 😉

  4. Outstanding Anita! Well done you!!! 🙂
Such a great voice, I showed my daughter and couldn’t help telling her that we’re friends! She asked if we could come to your concert one day and I said Yes!! So you see, I’ve got to book tickets when you’re performing my friend!!
Glad to be here! Much love to you my friend!
    🙂 🙂 🙂

Me, me, me. Blah, blah, blah. Tell me a little about you.
